Late post from the 29th of June 2004
Sarah Brightman…pure magic 8pm. Burswood Dome. Sarah Brightman. The folks around me which mainly consisted of rich couples in their mid-40s/50s speaking to each other in Italian, tired working ppl still in their business attire, old maids with their best friend and a binoculars…I look around me and I see that I am the only young person there. It’s 8.30pm and the show still hasn’t started, the old couple behind have been whinging for the past half an hour at Sarah’s lateness.
“Bloody Start the friggin show”
The Arabian drapes are lifted, dancing girls in exotic Arabian costumes appear and so does Sarah herself…
Sarah was so charming and gracious, her costumes…speechless man, dazzling diamond studded gowns, luminous chainmail dresses, hehe personal fave is this black satin corset decorated wif diamonds and a huge pale pink fairy floss chiffon skirt over. She came out with the skirt parted open to reveal a pair of glittering underwear and then proceeded to sit on a swing whilst singing ‘what a wonderful world’…I have never heard this song done so originally and beautifully…it’s insane I tell ya and then immediately it when on to Phantom of the Opera, man my mouth could not shut the entire time, I would get self conscious from time to time and try to shut it but somehow it keeps falling open!!
“Ladies and Gentlemen, Time to Say Goodbye”, Sarah Brightman
I wanted to shout nooooooo! It was the best version of that song I’ve ever heard, so clear so sweet so melodic. After clapping till my hands were sore she came back with “The War is over now”…wah lao, indeed it is. So many of my fave songs came up!!! I loved the finale, she stood on this thing that brought her to the top and she had like this super long chiffon cape that flowed all the way down to the floor, then she started singing and then all of a sudden the cape drops wif a loud crescendo (brilliant orchestra btw!!) and confetti is shot up on both sides of the stage. I was so bloody in awe that I couldn’t even remember what she was singing!!!
Somehow she reminded me of Lara Fabian; a woman with a powerful voice that has the power to make ppl cry or happie…Big hugs and lotsa kisses to those who allowed my life to be enriched by this wonderful experience!!!!!!!!
